Since 1989, the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council has supported San Angelo's spirit of creativity by distributing grants to other non-profit arts and cultural organizations. Funds are composed of 5% of the city's Hotel Tax Revenue, money raised by the council through our membership drive, the San Angelo Wine & Food Festival, and support from the Texas Commission on the Arts.

The grant program is designed to assist local, non-profit tax-exempt arts and cultural organizations. Financial assistance is granted in order to:

• Increase the marketing capabilities of local arts organizations to increase tourism. 
• Increase the artistic quality of the applicant's activities.
• Assist with special projects, such as joint programming, special artistic presentations, and exhibits developed by the applicant.

To qualify organizations, must be a non-profit with offices and programs in San Angelo. The organizations must have been operating for at least one year.

Applications are reviewed and ranked by a panel of volunteers annually. The Cultural Affairs Council's Board of Directors then makes grant allocations based on the panel rankings and funds available. Applications are due August 31st. Funds are distributed in late September.

Two categories of grants are available: Core Support and Project Support. Core Support grants are designed to support the activities of established non-profit arts organizations. Project support grants are designed to support non-profit organizations that provide other types of community services, but deliver arts programming through specific projects such as exhibits, festivals, concerts, etc. Project support grants will not exceed $2,500.
