Martelé: Silver of Le Beau Monde: An exhibition of one of the most magnificent silver collections in America on loan from Suzanne and Joel Sugg in a dazzling exhibit including table settings and other displays that bring to life the astonishing life-style of the turn of the century “gilded age.” In 1897 Gorham Manufacturing of Rhode Island began producing hand made silver through a hand hammering process known as "Martele." This silver is widely recognized as the finest ever to be made in America and was first shown at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel and the International Paris Exposition of 1900 where the silver recieved 5 gold medals. The featured guest this month will be Catherine Williams - Silver Lining Art Conservation, Austin, TX. Collector's Society Events are open to the general public, but becoming a member is so much fun! The Museum extends an invitation to our membership to join the Collectors Society, an organization made up of people who enjoy gathering several times each year to learn about art and collecting in an entertaining environment. Meetings and lectures are usually held at the Museum and afterwards members of the Collectors Society join the invited speaker for an enjoyable meal in fine area restaurants and in the homes of our gracious members. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet and converse with our distinguished guests on a more informal basis. Dues for membership in the Collectors Society are $100 per person, per year. These dues assist the Museum in purchasing works of art for its permanent collection. There is a fee for the cost of each meal, as well as a $10 program fee that helps defray the speaker's honorarium. The season runs from September to May each year making fall the best time to join. Call the Museum for more info at (325) 653-3333.

If you thought you knew the whole story of "The Princess and the Pea," you may be in for a walloping surprise! Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again (rated G).
