Current Executive Director Tara Rainey recently tendered her resignation effective June 30, 2010. The Board of Directors has formed a Search Committee that is accepting cover letters and resumes through June 4. Rainey is available to assist in the position transition through June, if the new Executive Director so desires. SAN ANGELO CULTURAL AFFAIRS COUNCILJob Description – Executive Director Summary:The Executive Director of the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council, a full-time position, directs the overall management, operations, and development of the organization and its programs, personnel, budgets, and projects. Duties:§ Manage an efficient office.§ Supervise office assistant in the execution of his/her duties including the preparation of the weekly electronic newsletter, on-line calendar, maintenance of website, database, mailing lists, timely distribution of publicity information and other general office duties.§ Administer the Sub-Grant Program to other arts and cultural organizations§ Book and coordinate with appropriate committees to present and fund the San Angelo Wine & Food Festival, Cactus Music Series, and other art and performance events as appropriate.§ Perform basic accounting and book keeping duties including pay invoices, payroll, annual budgets, and event budgets. Provide information to accounting firm for the preparation of audits, taxes and annual reports.§ Advocate for arts and cultural interests to City and State governing bodies, to private individuals, to civic and arts organizations, and to the public at large.§ Prepare monthly information and reports for the Board of Directors.§ Coordinate with other arts and cultural groups in quarterly meeting to develop and enhance cultural and educational activities and resources and to coordinate respective event calendars.§ Develop and apply to grant sources to support the activities of the Cultural Affairs Council and other arts and cultural organizations as deemed appropriate.§ Be on-site for Cultural Affairs Council events and meetings some of which will be after normal business hours and/or weekends.§ Perform duties deemed necessary by the Cultural Affairs Council Board of Directors. Skills:§ Planning: day-to-day administration and fiscal activities for the operation of a non-profit organization and long-term planning, with the Board of Directors, for a unified direction and appropriate funding strategies.§ Writing: including correspondence, promotional materials, proposals for services and funds, project evaluations, and press releases.§ Grantsmanship and Fund Raising: proven ability in raising substantial monies, including research and development of public, private and individual sources.§ Presenting: experience in booking, contracting and presenting performing arts and/or visual arts projects and events.§ Event Planning: experience in planning, budgeting and promoting arts and cultural event and fund-raising events.§ Volunteer Coordination: proven leadership, working with the Board of Directors, to coordinate a volunteer structure to support, develop and maintain projects of the Council.§ Public Relations: includes public speaking, coordination of meetings, interfacing with professional and non-professional arts organizations and individuals; communications with print, broadcast and social media including personal appearances, and presenting information and required reports to the City Council and the City Manager.§ Other: includes ability and enjoyment of planning, managing and presenting multiple projects at the same time.§ Computer: good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, QuickBooks, basic web-site maintenance. Graphic design experience a plus. Qualifications:B.A. or B.S. in music, visual arts, liberal arts or business administration with specialization in arts administration, public relations, advertising or marketing preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to act independently, be a disciplined self-starter with a passion for the arts and community service. The ideal candidate will also be a goal oriented strategic planner who can coordinate the work of staff and Board of Directors. Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience in organizational development, executive level administrator, grant writing, financial management and volunteer coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, media/community relations, fund raising and management. Candidate must also posses demonstrative leadership skills, creativity and innovation in previous and/or current position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
