Art Grants

One of the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council’s most exciting projects each year is the awarding of grants to arts organizations and art projects in San Angelo and the Concho Valley. We are extremely pleased this year to honor nine organizations with a combined $125,000.00 in grant funds. Five organizations received our Core Grants award for full-time arts organizations. Those recipients include the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, the San Angelo Symphony, the San Angelo Broadway Academy, Angelo Civic Theatre, and Ballet San Angelo. Four organizations received our Project Grants for specific projects involving the arts: Christmas at Old Fort Concho, the Concho Christmas Celebration, Project Janus for the Juneteenth Celebration, and the annual Children’s Fair. Hearty congratulations to each of these highly deserving organizations!

SACAC’s largest source of grant funding is the Hotel Occupancy Tax money that we receive from the City of San Angelo. The “HOT” funds were larger this year than in recent years, allowing us to raise the total grant allocation from $113,000 last year to $125,000 this year. Since the beginning of the grant program, SACAC has awarded over $2,225,000.00 in grant funding.

At the Cultural Affairs Council, we believe San Angelo has more to offer in visual, performing, and culinary arts than any Texas town of similar size. We proudly salute those who have received our 2019-2020 grants and gratefully thank them for all the ways in which they enhance and enrich our quality of life.

Long Live the Arts!
