August 2023 Update

Greetings from the Executive Director!

I am so pleased to be the new Executive Director of the Cultural Affairs Council! In the past I served on the board for several years as Treasurer as well as one term as President. My wife, Jackie, and I attended most of the events of the last 45 years of the SACAC existence. I performed as a musician at the early wine fests and at a jazz concert. I have had similar board experience serving as treasurer of the San Angelo Symphony Society and the San Angelo Performing Arts Council.

My family moved to San Angelo in 1959 when my father was hired as Dean of Men at San Angelo Junior College. We attended many college theater performances, concerts, and sports events. These experiences prepared me to grasp the importance of what the local culture of our community offers. San Angelo is not a big city or even close to a metropolis, but we know how to seek great visual art and artistic performers for our public entertainment. We have a wonderful diversity of talented people who work together to provide significant cultural events.

The Cultural Affairs Council is celebrating its 45th year! What can you do to be a part of this experience? Be a member of the Cultural Affairs Council. Attend our events and give us your ideas on what you want to see in and around San Angelo. Tell your friends about what you like about San Angelo and its people. We will be involved in promoting the arts, advancing arts education, offering exceptional food and wine experiences, providing interesting music events, and filling in the gaps so that a greater number of people may experience all the arts in meaningful ways.
